DESCRIPTION:This workshop is intended for local officials\, staff and business representatives who are considering the creation of parklets in their local business district. One treatment for addressing this safety concern is a Road Diet\, which typically involves converting an existing four-lane segment to three lanes: a through lane in each direction and a center two-way left-turn lane (TWLTL). \nWho should attend? \n\n   Transportation Engineers and Planners\n   Pedestrian & Bicycle and Safe Routes to School Coordinators\n   Local Police\, Fire\, EMS and Transit\n   Community Leaders\n\nWhat will you learn? \n\n   Learn about the different types of Road Diets and why they work.\n   Identify roads that are good candidates for Road Diets.\n   Learn what segment and intersection design elements are affected by a Road Diet.\n   Practice reallocating street space for other uses\, including non-motorized user needs.
