The Inner M & E Strategic Corridor & Community Empowerment Project

Project Team

EE&K, a Perkins Eastman company (lead), Real Estate Solutions Group, The Louis Berger Group, LISC of Greater Newark

The Inner M & E Strategic Corridor & Community Empowerment Project, Phase II, will build on the Inner M&E Phase I, which identified the common issues and opportunities tying the communities along the corridor together, engaged the area’s key community based organizations, and initiated collaboration amongst Orange and East Orange in a joint planning effort. The main challenges include building consensus on the corridor’s priorities and building capacity, and establishing a framework to effectively engage the area’s various not for profits organizations.

Working together with the Cornwall Center for Metro Studies at Rutgers-Newark, EE&K conducted an initial scoping workshop meeting on October 5th. The project is anticipated to conclude in April 2013. Municipalities involved are Orange, East Orange, Newark, and West Orange. NGO partners include LISC, HANDS, Rising Tide Capital, La Casa de Don Pedro.
