This workshop is intended for local officials, staff and business representatives who are considering the creation of parklets in their local business district. The workshop will include a review of the current status of parklets in communities in NJ and other areas, and an overview of the steps needed to create a single parklet, or a program for more than one parklet.  The workshop will include a discussion of the benefits that can come from parklets in a business district, the factors to consider in locating them, the concerns you can expect to encounter from members business owners, elected officials and residents of the community, and the issues and costs involved in designing, constructing, and maintaining them.

TNJ Institute: Community Rating Systems Peer Exchange @ North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA)

This workshop is designed as a peer exchange for counties and municipalities in Northern New Jersey to make them more aware of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Community Rating System (CRS) and the benefits it can bring to property owners in flood plain areas. The workshop will highlight several counties in our region with CRS User Groups that already provide support to local communities taking advantage of the CRS Program to improve resiliency.
